30,000 in the Bag

Today I’ve reached 30,076 words in total before my brain went bang for the day. Which is a personal record. I don’t believe I’ve ever reached 30,000 words before. I wrote about 20,000 words in my previous story before my computer died. I’m aiming for 90,000 words by the end so I’m now 1/3 of the way through the story.

I’m still on a high about yesterday’s feedback. That was great which gave me a bit of a boost today. It’s still taken me 3 weeks to reach this point so I’ll presume it’ll take another 6 weeks minimum to finish. Which doesn’t sound that long!

I’m coming across so many writing tips on Instagram but I don’t feel able to implement them as yet. It feels, rather, that I’m just vomiting out the words on the page. Structure, dialogue, story, emotions are all just going to the side right now to reach an ever higher word count.

I’m trying to think if the story is taking that much of a change as I work through it. It’s pretty much developing as I’ve predicted. I have one line summary outlines for each scene as a minimum. And I’m trying to write a 1000 words for each of these.

I’ve also got a writing workshop booked next weekend. It’s only for 2 hours but sounded poetic which as I don’t have that way of thinking seemed like a good hole to plug. I’ll report back after it.

Then I’ll log back in at 45,000 words which should take around 10 days in total. It’s going to be weird to be at half-way but also incredibly motivating.
