Mini-mini win!

I know I wasn’t going to be back for around another 8 days but I received an email just now and I’m a tiny bit relieved.

Now, it pertains to a short story I submitted to a number of journals the other day. I got an email back from one of the journals. It was the first back of the twenty I submitted. It wasn’t an acceptance but it wasn’t a straight generic ‘no thank you’.

I was given a little note with it. It explained that the character of Greene, the protagonist of my story, needed to have his backstory more fleshed out. This is gold. Not because I was declined. But because the editor took the time (and they’re busy people) to help me make it better if/when I come to revise it. I did send back a thank you for their time.

Anyhow, just a little something about how the magazine submissions were going. Wasn’t expecting to hear back so soon.
